Kenmore has been home to The First Baptist Church for over 98 years. Our Church has enjoyed the journey of serving the King of kings from this city and from this place. Our Lord has blessed us with wonderful people who have hearts for the work of Christ. Here are answers to some of the most FAQs.
What time are your Sunday services?
We have two worship services each Sunday. The morning service begins at 11:00am and the afternoon service begins at 1:30pm. We also have a more laid back teaching time called Sunday School at 10:00am.
What do you offer for children on Sunday morning?
Children are a special part of our congregation and we value them as participants and the future of our church! Sunday School classes for children (preschool through the 12th grade) begin at 10:00am. Following the children's Sunday School time is our exciting and educational Kid's B.L.A.ST. (Bible Learning Adventure STation) at 11:00am. At FBC we believe that God has a special plan for each child’s life, and we want them to understand and experience this from an early age. Every week we supplement parents in their desire to develop and grow their kids spiritually through a fun and safe environment. We teach the Bible using a relevant and age-appropriate style with multimedia, music, crafts, games and so much more! Meaningful relationships are also developed with their leaders and friends. Our goal in Sunday School and Kid's B.L.A.ST. is to show children how fun and life-changing church can be. Your kids will learn about God, sing awesome songs, and play hilarious games in a safe and supportive environment with plenty of adult supervision.
What do you offer for babies and toddlers?
Nursery care is provided for both infants and toddlers (to age 3) from 9:45am until the conclusion of the 11:00am service each week. The nurseries are located in the back lobby. Our infant nursery has several cribs and infant toys and is staffed by trained and highly skilled caregivers. Our toddler nursery, located in the next room, offers a play area with many fun, interactive toys for the children. Care is provided by experienced childcare workers, and each week the toddlers participate in a brief Bible story time.
WHO GOES TO YOUR CHURCH?
We have quite a mixture of people at FBC Kenmore. Our congregation truly spans the ages, from newborns to folks in their 90s. You’ll find just about every type of person here – married, single, divorced, widowed – professionals, workers, retired – life-long Akron residents and those who have just recently moved to the Rubber City. But even more important than the kind of people who go here is the kind of people who are welcome here – everyone!
WHAT KIND OF ADULT EDUCATION/SPIRITUAL GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES DO YOU OFFER?
Adults have a great opportunity to maximize their growth at FBC. On Sunday morning the Impact class and Legacy class meets for a wonderful time of learning. In addition to this weekly, laid back teaching time these classes have regularly scheduled outings. These out of classroom activities provide a chance for you to make friends and connect with those around you. WHAT KIND OF OUTREACH IS THE CHURCH INVOLVED IN?
FBC Kenmore is active in a variety of outreach ministries, both here in Akron, and around the world. We spend time each week in our community inviting people to church and telling them about the great God that we serve. We also have over 60 missionaries around the world planting churches and giving people the Gospel. In addition, once a year right before Thanksgiving we devote a portion of our offerings to the Haven of Rest ministry here in Akron. They provide thousands of meals for the less fortunate around Thanksgiving and Christmas time.
DO YOU HAVE OTHER SERVICES DURING THE WEEK?
We have a midweek service called Family Foundations that meets every Wednesday at 6:00pm. This is a laid back and fun time where the children are taught by our Pastor while at the same time he brings a message on the adults' level. After a short time of preaching the adults enjoy a small snack and some games like corn hole or table tennis while the children participate in King's Kids and Kid's Choir. WHAT WILL I EXPERIENCE IN THE SERVICEs?
Great music, welcoming people, and a relevant message in a safe, friendly environment.
DO I NEED TO BRING A BIBLE TO THE SERVICE?
No, you don’t need to but you can if you would like to. We have Bibles placed in each pew for our visitors to use and take home if they would like.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Come as you like, we do not have a dress code.
DO I HAVE TO PARTICIPATE IN A FINANCIAL OFFERING?
No. We do pass an offering plate during the service but we do not expect visitors to contribute financially unless you feel lead to. We hope you will just come, enjoy the service, and feel like you have found a home away from home.
